Cool, fast, unique, and
yesteryear.

In The Beginning ...

While driving home in my 75 one day, I had a realization that had built up subconsciously over some time. The Project Alfa 75 I had built was probably the most sophisticated project I would ever undertake. It had all the goodies that one would put on a daily driver/street car with lots of track potential, but a new Alfa it was not! Shoehorned into its chassis was a 164S engine, with all of its Motronic bits, gearbox ratios revised and gears lightened, the cast iron manifolds replaced with Alfa SZ stainless manifolds, the suspension upgraded with Bilstein and some Shankle toys, and a completely new interior to somewhat modern standards. And after all of that, it was still a new, old car.

On one of my phone calls with my mom (who lives in Ipoh, Malaysia), she mentioned that her mechanic had heard of a 155V6 owner murmuring about replacing his car with a GTV V6. I asked her if she had seen the car and she said, "well, yes actually." She said there's always room for an Alfa in our collective stable, although she did not have a reason to add another 155V6 since we already had one. My interest was piqued. Sure, I didn't need another Alfa (who ever does?) but I wanted one. So I told her I was interested, and would arrange for some kind of overseas payment plan on a car I would drive probably three to four weeks out of a year.

As any good Alfa-mom would do, she agreed that it was a great idea. After all, this would give her another Alfa to tool around in when we are not there. (I think she is working on a different one for every day of the week).

The end of 2000 was going to be a festive one. Jess Liao, another Alfista, was getting married in Malaysia (click here to see pics). Following that wedding was the end of Ramadhan, or Aidil Fitri (Eid in some Muslim countries). Being Muslim, it was a time of great celebration for my family and I. A week following Aidil Fitri, my brother Zamani - the proxy-owner of our first 155V6 - was getting married. April and I were going to be in Malaysia during that time so, I had to contribute to the frenzy, and thus we prepared the groundwork to obtain our second 155.
